I might have shared this illustration before, but it’s worth repeating. Two believers were conversing, and one mentioned that they believe in God but struggle to rely on faith for important decisions.
The friend responded, “Here’s how I see it. When you drive on a dark, unlit country road without streetlights, it can be a bit scary. You must rely on your headlights to guide you. They might only illuminate about fifteen yards of road ahead, but that’s enough to see that small stretch. As you keep going, more of the road appears—fifteen yards at a time—until you reach your destination safely.”
Barbara Winter helps when she writes:
When you come to the edge of all the light you know
and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown,
Faith is knowing one of two things will happen:
There will be something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly.
God’s Word helps even more in Psalm 119:
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
Keeping the Word of God for direction and safety,
Gene
